Unlike other generic balance boards or systems that are presently available today, the Tennis Balance Board is scientifically engineered specifically for the tennis player. It is designed with precise angles on the contact surface that create a “locking-in" mechanism that will force the player into the correct foot position, while mimicking the load phase of a forehand or backhand. If the player is “locked-in” (balanced) on the platform, the central nervous system will be activated in a tennis specific fashion, creating the essential contractions in the musculature that are needed to create perfect balance. With practice, the player will eventually be able to do the same thing without the platform while he or she is on the court.

So why does this type of training work to enhance balance? Simple, our brains have a characteristic called “plasticity”.   Plasticity, or neuroplasticity, is the lifelong ability of the brain to reorganize neural pathways based on new experiences. If you are forced to experience something, such as "locking-in" on the Tennis Balance Board, you brain will capture this sensation and you will quickly learn the proper way to distribute weight through your load foot.

Most athletes need to feel something prior to implementing it in real time while on the move. The Tennis Balance Board is the only one of its kind that allows the player to feel proper activation of the central nervous system and musculoskeletal system during the load phase of a ground stroke.
